Mizoram Football Association bans eight more players

The Mizoram Football Association (MFA) continues its battle against match-fixing in the Mizoram Premier League, imposing a ban on eight more players on Wednesday.
Earlier this month, the MFA had announced a ban on three clubs, three officials and 24 players on allegations pertaining to match-fixing in the recently concluded Mizoram Premier League.
Two players, Lalnunzama of Chanmari FC, and L. Lotha of FC Bethlehem were 'banned from any and all football activities for a lifetime.'
The three clubs that received a ban for three years were Sihphir Venghlun FC, FC Bethlehem, and Ramhlun Athletic FC.
Now, a further eight players have been banned for three years.
It included five players from the banned club Ramhlun Athletic FC, two from FC Bethlehem, and one more from Chawnpui FC.
The MFA previously announced in a statement that they are "committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity in our competitions."
Plans to enhance regulatory frameworks and strengthen monitoring mechanisms are in place to ensure the fairness of future competitions, the MFA had stated in the press release on November 4th, 2024.
Their current actions further showcase their strong desire for a football league that upholds the fairness of the game.
Apart from Mizoram, Meghalaya has been facing match-fixing issues and banned two players from playing in their state football league.
The two players were part of the 25 players banned by Mizoram and are now banned from playing in Meghalaya as well, as they were contracted with a club in the Shillong Premier League.
