In a latest new development, ISL franchise Kerala Blasters have roped in the services of 21-year-old I-League player, Samuel Lalmuanpuia. Hailing from Mizoram, the former Shillong Lajong captain joined the Tuskers with high repute, being awarded the I League U-22 Player of the season in the 2017-18 season.
He joined the youth team of Shillong Lajong in the Shillong Premier League in 2015, where he was crowned the top scorer. Samuel made his professional debut with the club in 2016. The attacking mid-fielder is one of the best performers of the I-League and holds a record of achieving 13 goals from 65 matches played for his maiden club.
The 21-year old midfielder was on loan to Minerva Punjab for their AFC Cup Campaign from the Reds. He will join the Kochi-based franchise on a one year deal with an option to extend the same. Heralded for his prolific dribbling skills and excellent command over dead ball situations, his set peice ability can change the course of any game within the blink of an eye.
Lalmuanpuia's contract with Lajong expired on May 31, 2019 after several renewals over the years. He would have most probably preferred to stay at Lajong, if only the Reds stayed alive in the relegation battle last season. But given his stature and talent, it makes sense for him to explore new territories. Coming through the ranks of Shillon Lajong, a promising and upcomimng prospect, Samuel will definitely be a valuable addition to the Kerala Blasters FC squad.
