Sethu FC registered a huge 9-0 win against BBK DAV in the Indian Women's League (IWL) game in Bengaluru on Thursday to get back to winning ways. After going down to Kryphsa FC in their last match, the defending champions Sethu FC showed great grit to put up a clinical showing as a hat-trick from Sandhiya helped the Tamil Nadu team register a big win.

The game started with two goals from Sandhiya and K Sumithra, who netted two goals each within the first 18 minutes and gave their team a huge advantage. The former made it 3-0 in the 45th minute of the game as she sent a loose ball to the keeper, to help Sethu FC go into the break 3-0 up.

Karthika drove a left-footed kick into the net in the 50th minute, before Sumithra again pitched in with a mesmerising effort and navigating through five defenders to extend the lead 5-0. Sandhiya's hat-trick was completed in the 81st minute, while Karthika made it 7-0 after a courageous drop shot from outside the box. Substitute Kunti Kumari made it 8-0 after an assist from Sandhiya, and Karthika ended with a hat-trick as well when she converted a goal in the 89th minute, as Sethu FC won 9-0.

Earlier in the day, Kickstart FC had a relatively quiet win as they triumphed 1-0 against Kolhapur City in a Group A encounter, with Kavya P unleashing the solitary goal in the game after a dazzling effort. The first half saw no goals despite both teams creating chances, but Kolhapur keeper Shreya Hooda was the star in the first 45 minutes as some fine keeping from her meant that Kickstart, who had more chances, were unable to convert.

Kolhapur's defending skills were impressive as well, as they found a way to silence Kickstart's attackers Kavya and Renu. The first goal was finally scored in the 68th minute, as Kavya, showing great footballing skills, surpassed five defenders to get her team ahead in the encounter. It was Kickstart's second win in the group. They are now third on the table with six points, while Kolhapur are placed fifth, yet to win a game.
