Table-toppers Kryphsa continued their unbeaten start to the ongoing Hero Indian Women's League 2019-20 (IWL) with an impressive 4-0 victory over Punjab-based BBK DAV at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Sunday.

Striker Anju Tamang got the ball rolling for Kryphsa with a grounded cross in the 18th minute, much to the dismay of rival keeper Radhika Khodre. With already one goal pocketed in the early half of the first set, the Manipur side became more clinical finishing with three goals in the second half to assert their authority on the field once again.

BBK DAV tried to consolidate the team, after conceiving the first goal to Kryphsa, but not without any prolific result. Only two minutes after the breather, Ratanbala Devi unleashed a brilliant one-two manoeuvre with Tamang at the edge of the penalty box. Another followed in the 85th minute, with Devi sending a brilliant header into the net and scoring her sixth goal in the tournament.

BBK DAV could have afforded a few clear-cut chances but failed to convert. Anita Devi played a fine long ball from the right to release Sweety Devi into the box, who headed the ball forward to take the onrushing keeper out of the equation and slotted the final goal for her team.

High on confidence after an ideal start to their campaign with back-to-back victories, Kryphsa tightened their grip at the top of the table with 12 points from just four matches, having scored 14 goals without conceding a single goal. On the other hand, bottom-placed BBK DAV have been able to score one point from three matches so far. Kryphsa will next face FC Kolhapur City at 3 PM on February 5, as BBK DAV will be seen fighting for a much-needed win against local outfit Kickstart at noon.

Sandhiya’s double brace powers Sethu FC to victory

Earlier in the day, second-placed Sethu FC continued their winning campaign with a 3-0 victory over Kickstart FC. Sandhiya turned tables for her team with two goals, one in the 12th minute and the other in the 90th minute. Sumithra was at her usual best as a powerful drive to the back of the net saw the defending champions double the lead.

Sethu FC’s intensity to keep going forward paid off again in the dying moments of the match with Sandhiya stepping in to tuck in her second goal for the side. With this win, Sethu FC moved up to nine points having played a total of four points, while Kickstart FC remains on the third spot with six points from four matches. Kickstart will take on BBK DAV in its next outing at 12 PM on Wednesday before Sethu FC plays Baroda FC at the same time on Thursday.
