ISL: Magical Alaaeddine, Prodigious Parthib rout Jamshedpur- Talking Points
NorthEast United defeated Jamshedpur FC 5-0 in the Indian Super League Season 11 clash.
NorthEast United registered its second win of the season as they routed 10 men Jamshedpur FC 5-0 in the Indian Super League Season 11.
Alaeddine and Parthib Gogoi scored a brace while youngster Nickson scored as Jamshedpur FC had a horrible night on the field.
Here are the major talking points:
#5 Jamshedpur FC has a lot to ponder
Coach Khalid Jamil admitted in the post-match presentation that it was his tactical fault that led to the team's rout of 5-0.
He said, "I take responsibility for the loss. After Eze's red card, I made a few mistakes and it cost the team." While Khalid took responsibility for the loss, JFC players also need to step up on the pitch.
The dropped shoulders after the first half resulted in the last two goals scored by NorthEast United FC.
#4 Stephen Eze's red card was the turning point
NEUFC started dominantly and JFC was completely deranged due to the constant attack. However, the likes of Eze kept the score in control barring the Alaeddine's magical strike.
However, a second yellow card to Eze for dangerous play in the 29th minute and his sending-off changed the complexion of the game.
NEUFC utilized their numerical advantage and the floodgates opened with NEUFC attempting a total of 27 shots with eight of them being on target.
#3 Benali got his substitutions right
Juan Pedro Benali made sure that NorthEast United didn't take the foot off the gas and continue attacking via his substitutions. After taking the 3-0 lead, Benali brought on Hamza Regragui and Macarton Nickson.
Both players combined in the 82nd minute as youngster Macartor scored a fine goal from distance to make it 4-0 for the Highlanders.
#2 Homegrown talent Parthib dazzles the fans
Youngster Parthib Gogoi brought up a brace to reach 10 ISL goals – the most by any player in the league before turning 22.
Though last year he floored the fans with his long-range stunners, Gogoi has added finer elements to his gameplay and those were evident across his two goals here.
First, he made a deft run to meet Alaeddine's ball and make it 2-0 in the 44th minute. In the second half, he would score his second goal after a scramble in the box.
#1 Without a genie Alaeddine is still magical
The moment when NorthEast won the game was in the fifth minute when he twisted and turned to put the ball in the top right corner sending the crowd into a frenzy.
The first goal was one of the many contributions the Morrocan will have on the night.
He would later assist youngster Parthib Gogoi in the 44th minute and then complete his brace in the 90th minute following a counterattack to complete the rout.
Alaeddine matched Brazilian player Elano from season one in finding the net in the first six ISL games.
