As per a report by Goal.com, Indian Super League (ISL) outfit ATK Mohun Bagan FC’s promising youngster Boris Singh Thangjam has tested positive for Covid-19.

The right back, who was an integral member of the U17 squad that represented the country for the first time at any world-level FIFA tournament, had been training in Bangalore during the off-season to work on strength and conditioning.

Although he has tested positive, the 20-year-old is yet to show symptoms and is in a stable condition. He is observing isolation protocols in his home.

Boris was one of the most exciting teenagers who featured for India in the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2017. His sheer pace and ability to beat opposition players with it was something that caught everyone’s eyes. After the World Cup, he went on to impress for Indian Arrows in the I-League.

Unsurprisingly, many ISL and I-League clubs wanted to rope him in once he was set to leave the Arrows. Then ATK FC, who has since merged with Mohun Bagan to form a new identity, managed to lure him in. However, two seasons at the club, and Boris is yet to make his debut in the ISL. He did play in the Durand Cup and I-League 2nd division for the Reserves side.
