ISL 2020-21: Roy Krishna's heroics in first three matches with three goals
ATK Mohun Bagan added a new milestone in Indian Super League after last night’s victory against Odisha F.C. No teams so far have been able to win the first three matches of the tournament consecutively. Habas’ squad was the first to do so.
The last-minute goal came from the Hero of the Match Roy Krishna. Some questions were directed to him from the ATK Mohun Bagan Media Team, to which he responded:
“This is the first time in my career that I’ve got three goals in the first three matches. But I have record of scoring two goals each in three consecutive matches. I want to break this record.”
“We treat every match with equal weight. We take every match as the finalmatch and want to win. Obviously, this victory gave more pleasure because we didn’t give up till the very last minute and that’s how we were rewarded.”
“I’ve practised heading over the years. None of us wanted to make the match a draw. We took decision in the field that when a chance will come, we have to make a positive result out of it. We have to play till the last minute. I was heading in the last minute keeping in mind that it is our last chance.’’

“I made a special celebration after scoring that goal because it was my Ammi’s birthday. My adopted mum is one of the few women in my life who has stood by me over the years. I lived in New Zealand for a long time and she took care of me as her own son. She’s been there for me during the challenging periods of my life especially in the recent years. She understands me and always supports me no matter where I am. Every match day she calls me to wish and encourage me and she regularly follows all my games. She’s also one of my biggest fans.”
“We have to play 3 matches in 8 days. It’s challenging but we have a fighting spirit that keeps us going. This season is different compared to pre covid times. We have to keep preparation both physically and mentally. Our goal is to keep fit, play well, avoid injuries. We have to recover quickly and then prepare again for the next match. The next few matches will come in quick successions so we have to gear up for that.”
“I don’t think Marcelinho’s injury was an advantage. Marcelinho is a very good player but the team looked dangerous even without him. We don’t generally takeany injury or any disadvantage of another team as an advantage to us. Every team comes to the match with full preparation and it would be unwise for us to underestimate any team.”
