ATK Mohun Bagan FC head coach Antonio Lopes Habas heaped praise on Fijian striker Roy Krishna after his side’s victory against FC Goa in the Indian Super League (ISL) clash on Wednesday. The Spanish mastermind described Krishna as 'absolutely the best in the ISL' after his match-winning performance.

Krishna, who was a part of Habas’ set-up in last-season’s title winning run, has been influential for the Mariners. He has already scored 5 goals in 6 games and is one of the highest scorers in the league. Against Goa, the 33-year-old converted a late penalty to give ATK Mohun Bagan their fourth win of the season in six games. Undoubtedly, Habas has been impressed.

“Everyone knows all the skills and attributes of Roy. He is a fantastic player for us. For me, he’s absolutely the best in the ISL. He’s my player, always gives his 100% and now he’s found his perfect state physically, after not training for a long time before pre-season,” the Spanish coach said at the post-match press conference.

The Green and Maroons are currently 2nd on the table, level on points with Sergio Lobera’s Mumbai City FC and if they are to achieve all their goals this season — those of topping the league as well as winning the title — it is imperative for Krishna to maintain his form. And going by his capabilities, we would be surprised if he does not live up to all expectations.
