Preview

Odisha FC take on FC Goa in the last match of Matchday 5 tomorrow in the Indian Super League (ISL). The hosts have just one point from four matches so far and will be desperate for their first victory of the season. Juan Ferrando’s Goa on the other hand have five points from four games and will be looking to make it two in two after victory against Kerala Blasters.

The main issue for Stuart Baxter’s side so far has been their lack of goals. Striker Diego Mauricio got both their goals in the draw against Jamshedpur FC but they haven’t scored since. On top of that, they haven’t won in their last five meetings with FC Goa, losing three and drawing two. However, the Gaurs have conceded at least once in all of their last five games which should encourage the Odisha attackers. Having both got a 6-day break after their last game, the two sides will be hoping that tonight’s match can provide fresh impetus in their bid for the top 4 places in the table.

Squad Overview

Stuart Baxter has been unlucky to not have been able to field his first choice team in any of their first four matches. Marcelinho is still nursing a knock while Vinit Rai is a long-term absentee. Hendry Antonay is also a doubt after not featuring in the last match against Mumbai City. However, Jerry Mawihmingthanga is one of those who has recovered now and started the previous game. Shubham Sarangi, Laishram Singh, George D’Souza and Gaurav Bora are the other names that should be in the starting lineup.

For Juan Ferrando’s side, the 3-1 win against Kerala Blasters could not have come at a better time. The midfield and attack seems to be clicking and their big name players like Igor Angulo and Brandon Fernandes are coming into their own. They have been luckier than the other sides with injuries but that is also due to Ferrando’s game management and the way he has used youngsters like Alexander Romario, Princeton Rebello and the likes in the absence of some of the senior players. Their foreign contingent is one of the best in the league and in Lenny Rodrigues, they have a dependable and experienced midfielder who can control the tempo of the game without much fuss.
