Preview

Table-toppers Mumbai City FC take on Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Monday. The Islanders will be looking to extend their 4-game winning streak against the Red Miners who are on a 4-game unbeaten streak of their own.

It will be a challenge for Owen Coyle’s side as they are yet to win in 9 away matches. Mumbai City on the other hand have won their last 3 home games, keeping a clean sheet in two of them, and will be hoping to extend that run as well. Sergio Lobera’s men fall behind in the head-to-head contest though, having won 2 of the last five meetings while Jamshedpur have won 3. Another interesting statistic is that Mumbai City score 1.56 goals per average at home, something that may well be improved upon tonight based on the form that they are in. Jamshedpur score 1 on average away from home, meaning this one might be a tight affair after all.

Squad Overview

Coyle gave the young Aniket Jadhav and William Lalnunfela a start against SC East Bengal but might bring in the trusted duo of Amarjit Singh Kiyam and Jackichand Singh back for this one. Nerijus Valskis should start upfront as usual. Their defence has been improving of late with Peter Hartley and Stephen Eze developing a good understanding. Laldinliana Renthlei misses out though, after seeing two yellows in the previous game and might be replaced by Karan Amin.

For Mumbai City, Mandar Rao is still a doubt and Vignesh Dakshinamurthy should deputise in his absence. Hernan Santana may make way for Mehtab Singh as part of Lobera’s rotation policy. Cy Goddard is another player who might get a look. The mainstays, Hugo Boumous, Ahmed Jahouh and Adam Le Fondre, should all feature as should Mourtada Fall and Bipin Singh.
