8th placed Hyderabad FC host 6th placed FC Goa in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Wednesday ahead of the New Year break. Manuel Marquez’s side come into the game having lost their last two matches against Mumbai City and Kerala Blasters. On the other hand, Juan Ferrando’s wards will be looking to finish the year on a high after a positive result against Jamshedpur FC.

The Nizams have conceded two each in their last two defeats after staying unbeaten for their first five matches. Igor Angulo and company will be looking to take advantage of the situation having themselves scored in all but two of their first eight games. Hyderabad also haven’t scored in their last two and with Aridane Santana struggling in front of goal, it remains to be seen if someone else stands up and takes over the scoring baton. A win in this game will see the Gaurs move closer to the top four. However, with just two points separating the sides and Goa having played a game more, a win for Hyderabad would mean they could move up to fifth.
Squad Overview
Hyderabad have been extremely unlucky with injuries so far. Fran Sandaza, Joel Chianese and Lluis Sastre have all been injured for long stretches of time while Aridane Santana has also missed a few games. However, the tide seems to be turning in their favour at the moment with Sandaza featuring in the last game and Chianese and Sastre both available for selection for this one. They have also just brought in Dutch attacking midfielder Roland Alberg who should provide a different dimension in attack. Their back line will be looking to make amends after a poor couple of games and might feature India international Adil Khan from the start. Joao Victor, Halicharan Narzary, Hitesh Sharma and Liston Colaco are the other usual suspects.

For Goa, the victory against Jamshedpur was another reminder of their attacking threat. The likes of Igor Angulo, Jorge Ortiz, Brandon Fernandes and Alexander Jesuraj should all feature once again, as should Edu Bedia. With their back four slowly finding their rhythm after a few disappointing outings, the only major change that Juan Ferrando might be inclined to make is to bring Devendra Murgaonkar in the starting eleven in place of Princeton Rebello.
