Former FC Goa coach Sergio Lobera could possibly return to Indian football as he might take the reins of Mumbai City FC as the coach of the ISL side, after being sacked by the Gaurs towards the end of the 2019-20 season.
According to Goal.com, the Spaniard will soon pen the contract formally as the Islanders parted their ways with Portugal's Jorge Costa after two years at the club.
Mumbai City missed out on a play-off spot in ISL 2019-20 by a whisker, after they finished fifth in the league. It was Lobera's tactics that helped FC Goa finish top of the league. However, he was sacked just three games before the league stage ended in a surprising turn of events.
Lobera is known to adopt the attacking style of play and in 2018-19, he even managed to lead the club to the final where they lost to Bengaluru FC.
Lobera did have a lot of interest in him from other ISL clubs, given FC Goa's performance over the three years under his charge but ultimately it was Mumbai City who managed to rope him.
