Yes, you read the headline right.

Barcelona FC great Andrés Iniesta could join Bengaluru FC, ‘you never know’… at least, that’s what the Indian Super League (ISL) franchise’s coach Carles Cuadrat believes.

In an Instagram live session on the football club’s official handle, Cuadrat was having a light-hearted conversation with Sunil Chhetri. At one point, Chhetri started showing pictures asking the Spanish coach about his days at Barcelona.

On being shown a picture of Iniesta and himself, Cuadrat said, “Yeah, we tried getting Iniesta, not that he is coming.”

At first Chhetri did not react, as it seemed he had not quite heard what the coach had said. Then, Cuadrat repeated his words and Chhetri could not believe it.

Cuadrat then went on to add, “He (Iniesta) knows who we are, he knows what we are doing...you never know.”

This little exchange was again shared on the club’s social media handles on Sunday and as expected, the BFC went on a tizzy.

However, for the moment, it all seems like a fun social media post and nothing else, as Cuadrat later clarified in a tweet that he just wanted to see Chhetri's reaction.

Iniesta is one of the greats of the game. He has enjoyed an illustrious career at Barcelona and has played alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho and others. His partnership with Xavi Hernandez in the centre of the pitch helped Barcelona win many accolades. He even scored Spain's World Cup winning goal against the Netherlands in 2010. Surely, if Bengaluru do manage to get him any time in the near future, it will be the biggest transfer in Indian football.
