Investor dispute threatens Mohammedan Sporting's ISL debut
Despite these challenges, Mohammedan Sporting’s General Secretary, Ishtiaque Ahmed, remains optimistic

Mohammedan SC lifted their maiden I-League trophy at the Salt Lake Stadium in the 2023-24 season.
Mohammedan Sporting, the century-old football club, faces a major setback just days after their promotion to the Indian Super League (ISL) was confirmed.
The club’s principal investor, Bunkerhill Pvt Ltd, has announced the collapse of their investment deal due to "unmet expectations," casting uncertainty over the club's debut season.
The Kolkata-based club, which clinched the I-League 2023-24 title, was officially confirmed for the ISL on Saturday.
However, the anticipated partnership with Bunkerhill, which holds a 61% stake in the club, is now under threat. Bunkerhill's founder and chairman, Dipak Kumar Singh, stated in a social media video that the agreement fell through due to disagreements over board composition and share transfer issues.
Singh criticized the club for altering the agreed terms, including the structure of the board of directors and the appointment of the board chairman. He claimed that Bunkerhill’s shares had not been transferred as planned, further complicating the situation.
Despite these challenges, Mohammedan Sporting’s General Secretary, Ishtiaque Ahmed, remains optimistic.
Ahmed emphasized that discussions are ongoing and expressed confidence in resolving the issues amicably. He clarified that share transfers are in progress and reassured that the club remains committed to its ISL debut, scheduled to face NorthEast United FC on September 16 in Kolkata.
