India and Syria competed for the Intercontinental Cup 2024 trophy in the third and final game of the tournament at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 19:30 IST.

India, who started with a 0-0 draw against Mauritius on Tuesday, are aiming for their second consecutive Intercontinental Cup and third overall.

Syria defeated Mauritius 2-0 on Friday, giving them a slight advantage heading into the final game, as they only need a draw to secure the trophy.

Syria claimed the Intercontinental Cup title with a commanding 3-0 victory over India.

The match began with Syria taking an early lead, and despite India's efforts to equalize, they struggled to break down the Syrian defense.

A crucial moment came when Khaled Kourdoghli of Syria was stretchered off due to injury.

Syria capitalized on this, with Daleho Mohsen Irandust adding a second goal.

India had chances, including a long-range effort from Mahesh Naorem and a disallowed goal by Liston Colaco.

In the dying seconds, Syria scored again to seal their win.

Once again, India attack well from the left, and Subhasish plays in an inviting cross and Chhangte heads it wide of the goal.

India finally show some attacking intent with a good cross played from the left side, but the Syrian goalkeeper was equal to the task and collected it without any fuss.
