India registered a historic 2-0 victory over Bangladesh in the SAFF U17 Women’s Championship 2025 at the Changlimithang Stadium, Thimphu, on Friday.
Pearl Fernandes (13’) opened the scoring with a clever chip after a strong run through the middle. The Young Tigresses doubled their lead in the 75th minute, when substitute Bonifilia Shullai smashed home a stunning volley from Alisha Lyngdoh’s corner.
Bangladesh had their chances, with Alpi Akter forcing a sharp save from India goalkeeper Munni, but they couldn’t find a breakthrough.
The result marks India’s first win over Bangladesh at this level in six years, giving coach Joakim Alexandersson’s side a big boost in their title push.
