I-League: Inter Kashi held by Lajong, Deccan gets first home win
Despite the draw, Inter Kashi remain at the top of the table with seven points.
Round 3 of the I-League 2024-25 ended with Shillong Lajong FC and Inter Kashi playing out a goalless draw at the SSA Stadium on Thursday.
Despite their first dropped points of the season, Inter Kashi remain at the top of the standings with seven points, edging out Real Kashmir FC and Dempo SC on goal difference. Shillong Lajong, still winless, have two points from three matches.
Inter Kashi dominated the first half but struggled to convert chances. Edmund Lalrindika and Nikola Stojanović created opportunities but lacked the final touch.
Shillong Lajong also had their moments, with Douglas Tardin and Sheen Stevenson Sohktung coming close, but were denied by Inter Kashi goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya.
In the second half, both teams continued their attacking approach and Inter Kashi’s Domingo Berlanga almost scored with a header in the 59th minute, but Lajong’s Ranjit Sarkar made a crucial save.
Phrangki Buam had a final chance for Lajong, but Bhattacharya’s block secured the draw.
Orelien's brace ensures Sreenidi victory
Over at the Deccan Arena, Sreenidi Deccan FC defeated Rajasthan United 2-1, thanks to Angel Orelien's brace.
Orelien’s opener came in the 21st minute, assisted by Rosenberg Gabriel. Rajasthan’s Seiminmang Manchong equalized in the 57th minute following a pass from William Pauliankhum.
The decisive moment came in the 86th minute when Orelien scored directly from a corner, giving Sreenidi Deccan their first home win of the season.
The victory moved them to fourth place in the standings with six points, while Rajasthan United remain in eighth with three points.
