Ghanaian forward Philip Adjah is all set to sign for Gokulam Kerala FC after being released by Mohammedan SC. The Malabarians are looking to bring him in as a replacement for Saliou Guindo who in all probability is going to be released. Mali striker Guindo got injured in the side’s pre-season training in Kolkata and faces a long spell on the sidelines.

With the I-League set to begin in about 10 days, all the teams are looking to strengthen their squads. Mohammedan Sporting, one of the favourites for the title this season, had previously released Adjah after he rejoined them following spells at a fair few clubs. 22-year-old Adjah first arrived to play for Mohammedan in 2018 and went on to become the highest scorer in the second division I-League for the 2018-19 season with 10 goals.

He then signed for Calcutta Customs on a short-term deal before moving to I-League outfit Neroca FC for the 2019-20 season. He scored 9 goals for Neroca before the pandemic interrupted proceedings in March. Thereafter, Bhawanipore picked him up ahead of the I-League qualifiers in September. There too, he impressed with a couple of goals in four games and led their challenge for the top spot which they eventually lost to Mohammedan.

It all seemed to come a full circle for Adjah when he re-signed for the Black Panthers in October after their promotion to the I-League. He even featured for them in the IFA Shield, scoring against Kidderpore SC on their way to the semi-finals. But they then released the Ghanaian with just weeks to go before the start of the I-League. Gokulam Kerala seem to be the first movers as they bring in someone whom they faced just a month back in the quarter finals of the IFA Shield when the attacker was still at Mohammedan.
