It could prove to be a great news for the fans of East Bengal FC. The club fans will get to watch their team play the remainder of their I-League games at home venue – the Salt Lake Stadium – from February 13.

The West Bengal Government has agreed to an appeal from East Bengal club and has permitted a discount on the rent. The club now needs to pay only Rs. 15 thousand per match instead of Rs. 15 lakh which they paid all this while.

The reason why the club could not avail the discount before they have an investor in Quess Corp, and no discount is given to clubs that have corporate sponsors.

As per reports in Times of India, East Bengal officials appealed to the state Sports Minister, Aroop Biswas after the investor announced its decision to dissociate from the club. East Bengal will take on on Punjab FC at the Salt Lake Stadium on February 13.

Before that match, they will take on Aizawl FC at the Kalyani Stadium on Friday. East Bengal are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table. They are at the seventh spot with 11 points in nine games. Their previous loss – to AIFF youth side Indian Arrows – was not expected. The Aizawl team too hasn’t performed well this year, having won only one of their nine games so far.

As for East Bengal’s team combination for the next games, striker Marcos de la Espada will be missing in action after he was sent off in the defeat against Arrows, while Ansumana Kromah may be tried as a desperate attempt to win some games.
