The battle between two teams sitting on the last two spots of the points table of the Indian Super League ended in a stalemate as Mohammedan SC and East Bengal FC played out a 0-0 draw in Kolkata derby.

Despite having multiple chances, Mohammedan SC have themselves to blame for the 0-0 result after East Bengal was reduced to nine men due to two red cards in the first half.

#5 East Bengal FC broke the losing streak

East Bengal FC finally caught some breathing space and broke their losing streak in the league with this result.

While the red and gold have won games at the AFC Challenge Cup, they lost six games straight in the league sitting at the bottom of the table. Despite playing with nine men, East Bengal FC endured everything thrown their way by the city rivals.

With this result, East Bengal has earned their first point and sits in 12th place while Mohammedan SC sits in 11th place with five points.

Mohammedan SC had some golden chances and Mirjalol Kasimov and Bikash Singh Sagolsem are guilty of missing some big chances in front of the goal.

While Prabhsukhan Gill was very strong in the goal, there were multiple instances when the final product in front of the goal was lacking.

East Bengal FC was saved by their shot-stopper Prabhsukhan Gill who was the best player in the match making five saves and multiple recoveries inside the box.

He was proactive in the box and raced out his goal to cut down attacks multiple times. He was active in the goal and thwarted many attacks with his smart positioning.

#2 Double red cards derailed East Bengal FC

East Bengal FC suffered a double whammy at the 30-minute mark when both Nandha Kumar Sekar and Naroem Mahesh Singh were dismissed following two red cards.

While Nandha was dismissed via a red card for hitting an elbow to Amarjit Singh Kiyam, Mahesh received a second yellow card for hitting the water bottle.

The double red card meant East Bengal played the remaining first half with just nine men.

#1 Mohammedan SC was the better team in the first half

Mohammedan SC had the better first half with nine shots overall and four shots on target.

Alexis Gomez, Gaurav Bora, and Florent Ogier were the top players for Mohammedan SC and they were getting better at East Bengal FC constantly.

The likes of Kasimov and Bikash missed multiple chances which eventually cost them three points.
