East Bengal coach Carles Cuadrat said his team have to work harder to take advantage of the chances as the club suffered their second consecutive defeat in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Sunday.

The Red and Gold brigade went down to Kerala Blasters 2-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi.

Although East Bengal scored the first goal in the match in the 59th minute with PV Vishnu scoring for them, Kerala Blasters found the equaliser four minutes later when Noah Sadaoui found the back of the net, restoring the parity.

Kerala Blasters eventually registered a come-from-behind win with their Ghanaian forward Kwamie Peprah netting the winner, coming off the bench in the dying minutes of the second half.

“We have to keep working. The team is giving their best. Football is a game of moments. At the moment we can take more advantage of the chances; we will get success directly," said Cuadrat at the post-match press conference.

"We have to understand that these things happen in football in the last moments. In the Indian Super League, we are watching a lot of things happening after the 85th minute. And this time, it was against us,” he added.

Despite enjoying the possession for the majority of the game and creating a flurry of chances, East Bengal could not make use of their chances.

"Sometimes, it goes in our favour; this time it was not our opportunity to get the second goal. But we have to work. I think these players need to understand what we need. We played some moments of good football. And it has to be the base to build up for the season,” he added.

“Of course, we have been working a lot on that (converting chances). We have been training a lot of days on how to make the right pass and right finishings. It is a question of quality, technique, and the good decision at the right moment. And we are working on that. I am sure that the guys are going to improve with training,” Cuadrat stated.
