Mohammedan SC get the better of defending champions FC Goa in tournament opener.

An experienced Mohammedan SC side sees of a young FC Goa team as the Kolkata-based outfit secure a 3-1 win over the defending champions in the Durand Cup 2022 opener.
In the first half, FC Goa did manage to take the lead with Muhammed Nemil's wonder strike. However, a determined and more gathered Mohammedan SC side struck back early in the second half with a Pritam Singh goal.
From then onwards, last year's runners-up showed immense expertise going forward as their substitutes started combining to get their second goal of the game. Skipper Marcus Joseph confirmed all three points after he scored his team's third goal, and his 17th in the competition, in injury time.
Mohammedan's Faslu Rahman was adjudged the 'Man of the Match'.
