The two quality-headed goals headlined the 1000th ISL match between Chennaiyin FC and Mumbai City FC as the two sides played an exciting draw at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in Chennai.

After a stalemate in the first half, both sides started putting in more work and the beautiful header from Ryan Edwards broke the deadlock which was later neutralized by an equally better-headed goal by Nathan Rodrigues.

Chennaiyin with this win, jumped up to the top four positions in the league table while Mumbai City FC is still finding them outside the top 6, having 10 points out of seven matches.

Here are the five major talking points from the match:

#5 The 1000th ISL game

The match had an iconic touch even before the start as the Indian Super League has touched a landmark figure of 1000 matches.

From its inception in 2014, the ISL has transformed Indian football, growing from an eight-team competition to a 13-team league that stands as the country’s premier footballing showcase.

#4 Flying save from Lachenpa

Phurba Lachenpa had a good outing in the match against Chennaiyin FC which included a brilliant flying save on a headed shot of Wilmar Jordan Gil in the first half.

He made three saves in the match to help his team win a crucial away point from the match.

#3 Connor Shields - The assist man

The main custodian for Chennaiyin in the midfield has yet another assist to his name with a brilliant cross on a set piece, straight to Ryan Williams's head.

Ryan converted it into the back of the net on the far side with a beautiful finish to score his first goal of the season.

#2 Back-to-back goal for Nathan Rodrigues

Nathan scored a goal in the second consecutive match with a more-or-less copy-paste of Ryan's goal as he also headed his goal to the far side, giving no chance to the goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz.

The 20-year-old left-back was also awarded as the player of the match for his excellent runs on the life side of the pitch, troubling Chennaiyin's defense.

#1 Late Flourish from Gurkirat Singh

Chennayin FC was very close to finding a winner in the final few minutes because of the brilliant wing play of Gurkirat Singh against his former side.

The young forward was subbed in by Chennaiyin in the 85th minute and he quickly got in touch with the flow of the game and almost scored a winner but was somehow tackled by the Mumbai defense.
