The Indian Women's team were up against the hosts China at the quarterfinal of the 2026 AFC Women's U17 Asian Cup on Monday.
India had qualified for their first-ever quarterfinal at this tournament with a commanding 4-0 victory over Lebanon in their final group match on Friday.
The winner of this match has also secured a direct spot for the upcoming FIFA U17 Women's World Cup.

China dominated the second half, and India hardly had any touch in the Chinese box, and hence didn't come anywhere close to finding a goal.
Although the hosts dominated the possession, they didn't have many goal-scoring opportunities in the second half, but they had already completed their task and won the match 3-0.
Meanwhile, the campaign of the Indian women's U17 team ended in the quarterfinals, and their wait for a return at the World Cup is extended at least for a year.

The Indian team had a decent start to the match, showed some good game awareness in defence, and tried to go for a quick switch using long balls.
This also resulted in a couple of one-on-one chances for the wards, but they couldn't find the target, and China eventually opened the scoring with India's first major defensive lapse.
And after that, the team just lost its composure and conceded another goal on penalty after Ritu's poorly timed tackle in the box.

Indian defence couldn't stop a threatening cross from the right flank, and the unmarked Chinese forward made an easy tap-in to open the scoring.
