The 20th edition of the AFC Women's Asian Cup will commence on 20th January 2022 and will run until 6th February 2022. The tournament that will see the best twelve Asian Women's national football teams taking part will be hosted by India. Three venues across Maharashtra will host the prestigious continental tournament.

Starting in 1975, AFC Women's Asian Cup has a long history and many iconic moments. The colossal Asian tournament also serves as the qualifier for the FIFA Women's World Cup.



After making their AFC Women's Asian Cup debut in 1979, this will be the 9th appearance for the Blue Tigresses in the premier Asian tournament. The former two-time runners-ups are all set to face Iran in their opening day clash of the tournament. Ahead of the match, The Bridge takes a look at the state-wise divisions of the Indian squad.

Manipur (8)

Thus Manipur and Tamil Nadu bear the highest share among the Blue Tigresses. India will face Iran on 20th January at the DY Patil Stadium at 7:30 pm IST.
