Jehan Daruvala is a name which has been wandering around in each and every Indian newspaper and media portal since the past two weeks. Such has been his performance that the youngster has now turned into a household name in sport loving families. But, who really is Jehan Daruvala?

Jehan is a 22 year old Formula 2 racer from the city of Mumbai. A protégé of the Force India F1 team, Jehan currently drives for UK based Carlin Motorsport. The youngster recently made the news after he became the first Indian to win a F2 race, during the Shakir Grand Prix. This was just days after he earned his maiden podium finish, when he finished third in a support race during the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Born in a Parsi family to Khurshed and Kainaz Daruvala on 1 st October 1998, Jehan spent his childhood days studying at the Bombay Scottish School. He started karting at an early age of 13 under the eyes of Rayomand Banerjee and soon started dominating the Asian and European circuits.

Jehan signed for Fortec Motorsport in the Formula Renault Championship 2.0 as a 17 year old in 2015. He ended fifth in the Northern European Cup and participated as a guest driver in the European and Alps edition.

The following year, he signed for Josef Kauffman Racing and showcased much improved performance than the previous season, earning his first pole finish in the Northern European Cup and ended the fourth overall.

2016 also saw the beginning of Jehan’s initiation into the European Formula 3 circuit. He was signed by Carlin Motorsports in December 2016 for the 2017 season. He won one race in 2017 and finished sixth overall whilst also outscoring all of his teammates at Carlin except for Lando Norris who was crowned the champion.

The time period which followed saw Jehan plying his trade for M2 Competition, MP Motorsport and Prema Racing.

He competed in the inaugural F3 season for Prema Racing in 2019. The 2019 season saw him finishing third overall with 2 race wins and a total of seven podium finishes.

After a fantastic run in 2019, Jehan reunited with Carlin Motorsports in early 2020 to race for the Red Bull Junior Team in FIA Formula 2. In a total of 24 races he took part this season, the Indian youngster finished one win and one more podium finish to end the season with 72 points at 12th position overall.

The rise to the top has been rapid for Jehan. He would surely be hoping and working towards breaking into the Formula 1 circuit soon. With the talent he possesses and the performance he has showcased, Jehan Daruvala is surely the one to watch out for.
