The New Year started on a bright note for Indian gamers as Sony, on Friday, announced the much-awaited release date for their PlayStation 5 (PS5) gaming console in the country. The gaming console is expected to hit the Indian market on 2nd February 2021.

“We are happy to announce that PS5 shall be launched in India on 2nd of February 2021,” the Japanese firm announced through Play Station India’s twitter handle.

Considering the demand for the console amongst Indians, Sony announced that the console will be available for pre-registrations from 12th January 2021 at 12pm IST. You can pre-order the latest console from Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, Games The Shop, Sony Center, Vijay Sales and other select retail partners.

The PS5 digital edition will cost the Indians INR.39,990, whereas the regular edition will cost INR. 49,990.

The announcement for launch in India comes almost two months after the Sony released the console in countries like USA, Canada, Australia and others.

Earlier, last year Sony were found in a fix when it came to light that a Delhi based man named Hitesh Aswani had filed for the trademark on PS5 back in October 2019. The issue was then resolved with Aswani withdrawing his application for the trademark.
