Indore: Asian Games silver medallist Brijesh Damani won his maiden National Billiards Championship as he got the better of his fellow PSPB player Dhruv Sitwala here at Sage University.

The match was level till four games (2-2) when Brijesh accelerated to take a 4-3 lead.

He then played all across the table to dominate in the eighth game and won the title 5-3.

Indian Oil's Brijesh had defeated B. Bhaskar of Karnataka and reigning World 6Red Champion S. Shrikrishna in quarterfinal and semifinal respectively.

Brijesh has six international medals, including a silver at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.

Kamal Chawla crowned Senior men's snooker champion

On the other hand, Kamal Chawla playing in front of his home crowd defeated Sparsh Pherwani to win his first-ever men's senior snooker national title.

"I had played the final four times before, but was unable to clinch the gold. So, it is indeed a very proud moment for me," Chawla told The Bridge after his win.

Pherwani, who played his first-ever final said, "I tried to keep aside the magnitude of this event and play. Unfortunately made a few errors to lose out after coming close."

Keerthana Pandian wins Junior girls' snooker

Keerthana Pandian of Karnataka defeated Tamil Nadu's Anupama Ramachandran 3-2 in a closely fought final to win the junior girls snooker national title.
