India qualified for their maiden final at the Women's T20 World Cup on Thursday after their semi-final against England got washed out without a ball being bowled at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

India made it through after entering the knockouts as the Group A toppers with four wins out of four games. England on the other hand, had a better net run-rate than India but the loss against South Africa in their opening game proved to be the decisive factor as they crashed out after having won three out of the four games in the group stage.

India had defeated Australia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and New Zealand in the group stage thanks to some excellent individual performances from opener Shafali Verma, and spinners Poonam Yadav, Rajeshwari Gaekwad, Radha Yadav and Deepti Sharma.

No matter whatever the result has been, Twitter erupted in joining the revelry of India's entry into the final. From players to Bollywood actors, everybody took turn to congratulate the women in blue.

Indian men's cricket team captain, Virat Kohli, who had a not so good outing in New Zealand after series whitewash against the Kiwis congratulated the girls and wished them best for Sunday's final.

Indian women's team great Mithali Raj, who couldn't be a part of the tournament also poured her wishes. Although, she added that her heart goes out to England who couldn't play the game as rain didn't give the opportunity for a ball being bowled.

Pacester Jhulan Goswami, who also announced her retirement from T20 cricket, reminded that it's just one more game for India to create history.

There is obviously an air of disappointment looming over England Cricket, who praised their team and mentioned that it was heartbreaking for them to exit the world cup without even being able to play.

Other popular Twitter figures joined the bandwagon to congratulate team India.
