The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to award the sum of Rs 3 lakhs to the victorious Indian disabled team. The Vikrant Keni-led Indian team beat opponents England in the final to lift the title in August.

The World Cricket Series-winning disabled team will receive a cash prize of Rs 3 lakhs along with the coach – Sulakshan Kulkarni, while the support staff is set to receive Rs 2 Lakhs each from the BCCI.

The All India Cricket Association for the Physically Challenged (AICAPC) is expected to be rewarded too but the Committee of Administrators (CoA) is yet to sanction it. BCCI, who had earlier given recognition to the team for their success in England, but refrained from giving any financial assistance, took to Twitter to congratulate the achievement of the team.

India beat England in the final by 36 runs back in August to lift the trophy. Ravindra Sante starred for India with a quickfire 53-run-knock off 34 deliveries. He hit two fours and four sixes. Batting first in the game, India posted a mammoth score of 180 onboard. Opener Kunal Phanase (36), Vikrant Keni (29) and S Mahendran (33) also chipped in with much-needed contributions. The hosts, in reply, failed to chase it down and in the end, it was a comfortable victory for India. It was a quality all-round performance from the Indian team.

The Indian bowlers did a great job in bowling England out for a mere 144. Opener Angus Brow top-scored for England with a 32-ball 44. Kunal Phanase and Sunny Goyat picked up the English scalps.

The Indian team had earlier defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in their final round-robin match to seal a spot in the final of the tournament. England reached the final after beating Afghanistan in the semi-final.
