From playing cricket, to hockey and even the guitar, 18-year-old Jemimah Rodrigues is already ticking all the right boxes. India’s latest cricket sensation, Jemimah Rodrigues enjoyed a scintillating KSL 2019 campaign, establishing a lofty repute for herself. Rodrigues, who was plying her trade for the Yorkshire Diamonds, shot into limelight after some exemplary all-round performance that saw her break a host of records.Â
Jemimah scored the fastest century in KSL history (112* of 58) during Yorkshire’s fixture against the Southern Vipers and also concluded the season as the second top scorer on the leaderboard with a jaw dropping 401 runs at a swashbuckling average of 57.29. The 18-year-old, though had a slow start the season, she got into the groove of things as the tournament progressed. The 18-year-old also took the most number of catches (9) in the tournament to establish herself as an all-round performer.

The Rise of Jemimah Rodrigues
U-17 hockey level player for Maharastha, the versatile Jemimah found her true calling in cricket after following her brother’s footsteps. She would follow him, to a cricket ground in the neighbourhood and at nine, her father Ivan Rodgrigues enrolled her to the MIG Club in Bandra but had to train with boys.
With an immense pool of potential, Jemimah was soon spotted by selectors and at 12, she secured a spot in the Mumbai U-19 cricket team for girls. At 13 Jemimah first held the bat for the U-19 side, and scored two with averages over 300 in the U-19 Super Leagues.

The 18-year-old Jemimah made her international debut in February last year. She made headlines in 2017 by scoring 202 in an Under-19 One-day tournament, and has been showcasing brilliant batting style. She scored an unbeaten 77 off just 48 balls, leading the Supernovas to victory, by defeating Velocity by 12 runs and entering the final of the Women’s T20 Challenge earlier this year.
