On Day 1, the face masks were on full display in the MI camp, such that the masks seemed to stop them from making too many bids, except for home boy Ishan Kishan.

Kumble in the Punjab camp and the old wise men at CSK's table were also always seen with their masks up. Not all teams in the auction room, however, followed the same practice.

How Day 2 will proceed

Day 2 of the IPL auction on Sunday will see players from 98 to 161 going under the hammer before lunch. After lunch, players from 162 to 600 and all players who were unsold will be clubbed in the accelerated auction.
