India's squad for Women’s World T20 announced; Richa Ghosh gets India call-up

The All-India Women's Selection Committee on Sunday announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be played in Australia from 21st February - 8th March 2020.
The only new entrant in the Harmanpreet Kaur-led squad is Bengal's
rookie batswoman Richa Ghosh, who has been rewarded for her exploits in the recent
women's Challenger Trophy. Hailing from Siliguri, Ghosh is a right-handed
batswoman and in her very first match of the T20 Challenger Trophy, she contributed
with a crucial 26-ball 25 to take her team to a respectable total. The
16-year-old followed that up with a 17-ball 22 and a 26-ball 36 in the next two
games. India will be expecting her to anchor the middle-order in the blockbuster
event in Australia.
There is no other newcomer in the team. India are in Group A along with hosts Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Group B has England, South Africa, the West Indies, Pakistan and Thailand.
The opening match will be played between defending champions
Australia and India at the Sydney Showground Stadium on February 21.
Besides the squad for the World T20, the selectors also
announced a 16-member squad for a tri-series which will be played in Australia
prior to the T20 extravaganza. The third team in the series in England and the
tournament will begin on January 31. Nuzhat Parveen being added as the 16th
member.
