Tokyo 2020: State of emergency in Olympic city lifted
Hokaaido, one of the Islands in Japan has lifted a three week 'state of emergency' condition and started preparation for the upcoming summer games
After plenty of heart-breaking information coming our way about Tokyo Olympics getting postponed, there seems to be finally some good news.
Hokaaido, one of the Islands in Japan has lifted a three-week 'state of emergency' condition and started preparation for the upcoming summer games. The state of emergency was declared on 28 February after Japan saw growing cases of coronavirus reports insidethegames.biz.
Sapporo is the largest city in Hokaaido and is getting ready to host marathon and race-walking events. But even after lifting the emergency condition, the officials of the state warned people of being cautious about coronavirus. They called on people to remain indoors if they were concerned about the virus, while adding that a balance would be required between containing coronavirus and continuing social and economic activity.
Japan has relatively lower number of reported cases when compared to other nations in the same region. China and South Korea have much more fatalities but there have been concerns of Japan not testing enough people. Reportedly, Japanese prime minister have been promised the support from Chinese and Korean counter parts as he wowed to conduct Olympics in 'complete form'.
This comes after more than 258,000 coronavirus cases having been reported worldwide to date. The Games are scheduled to begin on July 24.
