Former Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Commandant and Everest climber Mohinder Singh has contributed Rs 5 lakh from his pension to Punjab Chief Ministers Coronavirus Relief Fund.

The 76-year-old said it is the duty of every responsible citizen to contribute to the fund to fight the deadly virus.

“We can save each and every life and get our country back to normal,” Singh said in a statement.

Singh has led the expedition to scale the Everest through the toughest North-Col route in 1996.

He has expressed his gratitude to all the thanked all the doctors, police personnel, administration and workers frontline soldiers who are risking their lives and working hard to control the situation.

Singh is a native of Ludhiana and has vast experience of trekking in Indian Himalayas and also scaled Alps.
