At a time when the whole wide world is dealing with the threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), a designer has come up with a new logo for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 with the message ‘Practice safe social distance’.

The global outbreak of Covid-19 (novel coronavirus) has caused ripples across the world. Even the World Health Organisation (WHO) dubbed the virus as a global pandemic, as a result of which countries and government are adopting more stringent methods to restrict the spreading of the disease.

The coronavirus outbreak has led to the cancellation of almost all major sporting events around the globe. From the UEFA Champions League to the Shooting World Cup, every tournament has either been suspended or postponed or cancelled. Whatever is going on, is being held behind closed doors. Such are times that even the fate of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is in question.

While this may dishearten all sports fans alike, the threat of coronavirus cannot be taken lightly. Many people are coming up with ingenious ideas and campaigns to spread the message. As such, a designer has modified the original Olympics logo to deliver a message on how to avoid coronavirus. He has done away with the five interlaced rings in the center of the original logo: blue, yellow, black, green and red. Instead, he has put the five rings separately with a message about practicing safe social distance.

Coronavirus, like most other viruses, is contagious and according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), person-to-person contact is thought to be the main method of transmission. Hence, maintaining safe distance with other people could help in avoid contracting the virus.

The proposed logo, thus, delivers a very strong message, and has been shared by Mad Over Marketing (MOM) giving credits to @brandsotw.
