Teenage shooter Manu Bhaker has urged people to support doctors, nurses and police and asked for their safety as India continues its fight against coronavirus pandemic.

The Commonwealth games and Youth Olympic Games champion Bhaker was among the 40 eminent sports personalities who interacted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conference on April 3 regarding spreading awareness about the coronavirus pandemic.

“Please give Assurance of respect Dignity and safety to the Front line workers. Dr. nurses , police and other workers who put their life at risk for our safety,” the 18-year old pistol shooter said in a tweet.

Bhaker's request comes after multiple reports of attacks on doctors and other health care workers from various parts of India.

The most horrific incident was reported from Indore’s Tat Patti Bakhal area where health department team was on a visit to locate persons reportedly infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and stones were pelted on them. The health team consisted of five persons including three doctors.
