In this time of crisis of coronavirus pandemic, footballers from Bengaluru have come together to reach out to the elderly.

Due to the 21-day lockdown, a lot of people are scared to step out and get their essentials, Elderly are more scared than ever. So, a group of nearly 35-40 volunteers have teamed up with Karnataka State Football Association to ensure that senior citizens and others get their supply of medicines and other essentials, reports The Times of India.

"We have a big network of players, coaches, referees and officials covering most parts of the city. Starting Friday(April 3) our aim is to reach out to the needy who are finding it difficult to step out of their houses to buy medicines or essential items. We are ready to buy those items on their behalf," KSFA secretary M Satyanarayan said.

They also made it clear that they will not be distributing anything for free but just helping people out while reaching out to them. "Once a caller is screened and found genuine, people in the locality will go to their homes and get the work done."

The volunteers include former state players Gopal, Sunil Vinod and Saravana.

But with the help, they have also clarified that everything will be done keeping the safety in mind. Volunteers have been asked to follow all the precautions. "They have been asked to wear masks and gloves. If we find out that any of the caller are sick, we will alert the health authorities," said Satyanarayanan.
