Amid nationwide lockdown, ATK's M Soosairaj is trying to help villagers of Eraviputhenthurai a report in Times of India suggests.

Eraviputhenthurai is a village in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu and has a large fishermen community. With lockdown, there has been serious curb on fisheries and the fishermen's daily income has taken a serious hit.

Soosairaj, who has got stuck in Kolkata, is trying to help.

"I spoke to Father Jerome of our St Catherine Church back home and asked him how I can be of help. Since I am am not physically present, I offered money for their needs. Father Jerome said they are managing somehow despite managing somehow despite shortage of essentials and masks and sanitisers. But he assured me that he will plan something with me to tide over the crisis," Soosairaj told Times of India.

Soosairaj is an influential person back in his village. He is urging people to stay confined to their homes.

"...I try to speak to as many people as possible over phone and make them realise the importance of staying at home," Soosairaj said.

Stuck in Kolkata the midfielder is missing his home but is trying hard to cope up with the situation.

Being alone is not stopping Soosairaj to work on his fitness.
