Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 9: Neeraj Chopra wins javelin silver, 10 boxers reach finals - Highlights

After another successful outing that saw Lovepreet Singh and Seema Kaliramna add silver and bronze, respectively, to India's medal tally, the country's athletes return for a crucial Day 9 at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow.
On Friday, India scripted history in the men's javelin throw at the 2026 Commonwealth Games as Neeraj Chopra and Yashvir Singh clinched silver and bronze respectively, securing the country's first-ever double podium in the event.
Meanwhile, Tejaswin Shankar bagged his first-ever Decathlon medal for India, winning a bronze medal despite struggling with an injury before the start of his event.
On the other hand, Asmita Dey (Women's 48Kg) and Harsh Singh (Men's 60Kg) became the first-ever Indian judokas to win a CWG gold medal. Yamini Mourya (57Kg) won the silver medal.
In addition, all ten Indian semi-finalists in boxing won their respective bouts and will fight for Gold on Saturday.

Again a very similar pace in the bout. Both boxers are exchanging blow for blow almost continuously.
The referee has been called in to intervene a couple of times, but it has largely been clean.

As is the case in heavyweight boxing, both boxers are stuck to their positions. There's barely any movement. Stand and deliver the punches.

Rumesh Pathirage landed a massive 89.75m throw in his second attempt to pip Neeraj Chopra to second, who has a best of 85.83m.
Meanwhile, India's Rohit Yadav is currently in third place as he crossed the 80m mark on his second attempt, recording 81.56m.

Tejaswin Shankar wins India's first-ever Decathlon medal at the Commonwealth Games with a decent time in 1500m, finishing in 5th place.
Overall, he finished in third place with 7976 points.

Harris-Allan is throwing everything at the Indian. But Sachin is happy to take a back seat before landing accurate blows in his limited attempts.
The Welsh pugilist wants to dictate the pace of the bout, but Sachin isn't allowing him to.
