India looked to build on Jhandu Kumar's bronze medal, which opened the country's account at the Commonwealth Games 2026, as the action shifted to Day 3 in Glasgow.
The day saw Indian athletes compete across bowls, boxing, swimming, artistic gymnastics and 3x3 women's wheelchair basketball.
Boxer Sachin Siwach began his campaign in the men's 55kg round of 32, while Aryan Nehra and Dhakshan Shashikumar competed in the men's 400m freestyle heats. India's women's artistic gymnastics team also competed in the evening session.
India also continued its group stage action in lawn bowls, with Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh facing Tonga in the women's pairs, while Putul Sonowal took on Malaysia in the men's singles.

End 1 may have been a slow start for India, but they bounced back in End 2. India picked up one point to level the score at 1-1 with Tonga at the end of End 2.

After Jaudmani Singh marked a winning start for Indian boxing in men's 55kg yesterday, Sachin Siwach will hope to follow suit when he plays his first round bout in men's 60kg.

Recap: Jhandu Kumar opens India's medal account on Day 2!
India ended Day 2 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 with its first medal, courtesy of Jhandu Kumar, who claimed bronze in the men's heavyweight para powerlifting event.
Earlier, Ashok narrowly missed out on a medal after finishing fourth in the men's lightweight para powerlifting final with a personal-best lift of 200kg. Paramjeet Kumar, Jaspreet Kaur, Suman Devi, Kasthuri Rajamani and Sudhir also completed their campaigns, while India remained in action in swimming, artistic gymnastics, bowls and boxing.
