India once again had a packed schedule on Day 8 of the Commonwealth Games 2026, with the spotlight firmly on athletics as Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra began his campaign in the men's javelin throw qualification.
India added two more medals to its tally at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Thursday as Lovepreet Singh claimed silver in the men's +110kg weightlifting before Seema Kaliramna capped off the day with bronze in the women's discus throw.
Meanwhile, Tejaswin Shankar ended the opening day of the decathlon in second place, keeping himself firmly in medal contention.
Animesh Kujur missed the men's 200m final after clocking 20.65s in the semi-finals, while Vishal TK bowed out in the men's 400m semi-finals.
In the final athletics event of the night, Parul Chaudhary finished 13th in the women's 5,000m final, clocking 15:08.56, the second-fastest time of her career.

End 6 turned into a thrilling end, as Malaysia was leading until the very end and gave Nayanmoni no chance to take points. However, with her final bowl, she changed the game and took another point, reducing the lead to 5-4.
End 7 will be very important for her to win the set.

In End 5, Nayanmoni found her way back into the game and managed to get two bowls close to the jack. She had a chance to take one more point with her final bowl but missed it and was only able to take two points, reducing the lead to 5-3.

End 4 showed that Nayanmoni was struggling to get close to the jack. She was on the correct line but was still unable to reach the jack. Emma took twomore points to extend her lead to 5-1.

End 3 once again started with Emma maintaining the lead from the first bowl. However, Nayanmoni changed the game with her second last bowl and took one point.

In End 2, Emma did not give Nayanmoni any chance to get close to the jack. She placed her bowls in a way that Nayanmoni could not break through, eventually taking two more points.

India had an incredible match today, winning Set 1 with a strong performance by 9-2 before losing Set 2 by a close margin of 4-3. It all came down to the tie-breaker, where India held their nerves and won the match.
They not only won the match but also moved to the top of the standings in their section.
