Commonwealth Games 2018: Punam Yadav adds on to Weightlifting medals, wins Gold
Punam Yadav made her presence felt at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games by winning the Gold medal in the Women's 69 kg Weightlifting category. She was India's fifth Gold medal winner in the ongoing Games, which was followed by Shooter Manu Bhaker who won the Gold in the Women's 10m Air pistol event. She recorded a total weight of 222 kg to grab the top rights, lifting 100 kg in the snatch and 122 kg in the clean and jerk. England's Sarah Davies was not far behind with lifts of 95 kg in the snatch and 122 kg in the clean and jerk to script a total of 217 kg. [embed]https://twitter.com/TheBridge_IN/status/982810341355618305[/embed] Failing to lift the final in the clean and jerk, the European paved the way for Punam to win the Gold medal. Fiji's Apolonia Vaivai finished with the Bronze medal with a score of 216 kg- 100 kg in the snatch and 116 kg in the clean and jerk. She has previously won the Bronze medal in the Women's 63 kg category in the last edition of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow lifting a total weight of 202 kg- 88kg in the snatch and 114 kg in the clean and jerk. Day 4 has been eventful for India so far, winning 4 medals so far and taking the tally to 10. India is currently at the 4th position in the standings. Indian shuttlers also produced a clinical performance in the Mixed Team event semi-finals, edging past Singapore to enter into the Gold medal match. While the Indian Women's Table Tennis team defeated England in the semi-finals and will now play aagainst Singapore in the Gold medal match later on in Day 4.
