Indian Women's Table Tennis team scripted a thumping victory over Malaysia in their quarterfinal clash at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games on Saturday. On the other hand, the men's team also defeated Malaysia a similar margin (3-0) to enter into the last four. India's top-ranked Women's player Manika Batra continued her great handing a defeat to Ying Ho in the opening match with scores of 11-9, 11-7, and 11-7. In the second singles, Madhurika Patkar lost suffered a setback after losing the first game. But she made an extraordinary comeback winning the next three games. The scores were 7-11, 11-9, 11-9, and 11-3. [embed]https://twitter.com/TheBridge_IN/status/982427026660311040[/embed] Mouma Das and Madhirkar Patkar partnered each other in the doubles' match to outclass the Malaysian pair of Ying Ho and Ai Xin Tee with scores of 11-8, 10-12, 11-8, and 11-7. In the Men's Table Tennis team event, India's Harmeet Desai blanked Malaysia's Leong Chee Feng 3-0 in a lopsided encounter with scores of 11-4, 12-10, and 11-6. India's most decorated paddler Achanta Sharath scripted a comfortable victory over MUHAMAD RIZAL Muhammad Ashraf Haiq, the scores were 11-8, 11-7, and 11-6. Malaysian duo of Choong J and Leong CF was no match for Gnanasekaran Sathiyan paired with Harmeet Desai handing them a 3-0 defeat with scores of 11-7, 11-6, and 11-7. The Women's team will play its semi-final against England on April 8 while the Men's team will face off against Singapore the following day. Both the teams have high possibilities of making it to the Gold medal match! So far, the Indian team has banked less on the experience of its veterans and more on the young guns. Harmeet Desai and Manika Batra have garnered all attention possible in the games so far. Can they take India to the very top? Weightlifters have so far hogged the limelight for the tri-colour in the ongoing Commonwealth Games winning each of the five medals India has won so far. With many more medals ups for grabs, the remaining days of the mega event promise to be eventful!
