The Commonwealth Games 2026 are set to take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2.
The 2026 edition will feature only 10 sports after the original host, the Australian state of Victoria, withdrew from hosting the Games in 2023 due to financial concerns.
Glasgow later stepped in to host a smaller and more cost-effective edition of the Games, with judo among the sports retained for the competition.
Judo made its demonstration debut at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh before becoming a medal sport at the 1990 Auckland Games.
However, the sport was not included in every edition and was dropped several times before becoming a permanent core sport at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
India has competed in judo at every Commonwealth Games, and has won 11 medals to date, including 5 silver and 6 bronze medals.
The country's best performance came at the 2014 Glasgow Games, where Indian judokas won four medals (2 silver and 2 bronze).
India is currently ranked 10th in the all-time Commonwealth Games judo medal table and will look to improve its medal tally in Glasgow 2026 with its first-ever gold medal in judo.
