Joshna Chinnappa stormed into the quarterfinals of the Women's Singles Squash event having the better of Australia's Tamika Saxby 3-0 in a pretty one-sided match at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. The Chennai-born is now a medal prospect considering her recent form! The Arjuna award winner will now wait to make a mark when she will be taking the court alongside Joshna Chinnappa in the Women's doubles event. Joshna Chinnappa will play her quarterfinals match on Saturday evening in the Australian city. She is the only squash player who is still in contention in the individual events! Hopefully, she will be able to secure a podium finish. Although the notable Squash players like Saurav Ghoshal and Dipika Pallikal Karthik have been eliminated from the individual events, each of them will be seen in action in their respective doubles events. Ramit Tandon and Vikram Malhotra will play together in the Men's doubles event. During the last edition, Dipika Pallikal and Joshna Chinnappa won the Gold in the Women's doubles category. Time will tell whether they will be able to repeat the show in Gold Coast. Saurav Ghoshal will pair up with Dipika Pallikal for the Mixed doubles event while Harinder Sandhu will play alongside Joshna Chinnappa. India has been off to a flying start in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, winning two Gold medals, a Silver medal and a Bronze in the opening days of the mega event. If India manages to keep up the momentum, it is likely that the Asian outfits will finish at a respective position in the final medals tally! In Singles, it is now up to Joshna Chinappa to carry Indian hopes forward.
