World Chess C'ship: How much prize money did Gukesh earn
At 18-years of age, the Indian is already a millionaire.
Gukesh D is the toast of the chess world after pulling of an unprecedented victory on Thursday night in game 14 of the World Chess Championship at Singapore.
When the game appeared to be heading for a certain draw, Ding Liren erred and Gukesh was quick to spot the opening and duly broke open the door to enter history books as the youngest World Chess Champion in the history of the game.
At just 18th years of age, he is now the 18th world champion.

Gukesh’s prize money
According to FIDE, the 2024 World Chess Championship has a total prize money pool of $2.5 million.
For every victory, a player is to be awarded $200,000 and the remaining prize money is to be split equally between Liren and Gukesh.
With the Indian having won three games (Games 3, 11, and 14), he earns $600,000. Meanwhile, Liren, for winning two games - Games 1 and 12 - will earn $400,000 .
Therefore, the remaining $1.5 million will be split equally between the two players.
In all, Gukesh will pocked $1.35 million (INR 11.45 crore approximately) while Ding, despite relinquishing his world title, earns $1.15 million (INR 9.75 crore approximately).
