Indian Grandmaster Praggnanandhaa secured his third straight win at the 2025 Tata Steel Chess on Tuesday, defeating GM Leon Mendonca of India.
With 3.5 points after four rounds, Praggnanandhaa is the outright leader of the points table.
Meanwhile, GM Arjun Erigaisi still remains winless despite looking set for a win today against GM Vladimir Fedoseev, who took a win after luring Arjun into his trap.
World champion Gukesh had to fight it out in a 6-hour match against GM Alexey Sarana, the match eventually ending in a stalemate.
Pragg marches on
Coming into this match on the back of two wins, momentum was with Praggnanandhaa and it was visible in his gameplay.
Leon Mendonca was struggling right from the off and it was only a matter of time for Praggnanandhaa to wrap up proceedings.
Arjun suffered a heartbreaking defeat from the cusp of victory, a blunder costing him his first victory in the competition.
GM Pentala Harikrishna also secured a win over GM Max Warmerdam.
Two more wins for India in Challengers
IM Divya Deshmukh won her match against GM Ediz Gurel, and GM Vaishali also clinched a win against GM Nodirbek Yakubboev, in what was a perfect day for India in the Challengers.
After four rounds, Vaishali is in sixth place with 2.5 points, while Divya climbed to 11th after her first victory in the competition.
