India's Sharvaanica AS was crowned the U12 girls' world rapid champion at the 2026 FIDE World Cadet and Youth Championships on Friday.

Sharvaanica, who had clinched the U10 girls' title last year, dominated the tournament after stepping up the age category, winning with two rounds to spare.

A Women Candidates Master (WCM), the 11-year-old Sharvaanica recorded ten wins and a draw in 11 rounds in the competition, scoring an impressive 10.5 points.

Sharvaanica had sealed the title in the ninth round with a win over higher rated Ema Jaksa.

The Indian finished the tournament, three points ahead of the second placed Zhansaya Sholpanbek of Kazakhstan.
