Megha and Tijan to lead India in World Junior Chess Championship for the blind
Megha Chakraborty and Tijan Gawar will lead India in the 12th IBCA World Junior and Women Chess Championship for the Blind, marking the first time the event is held in Asia.
Indian chess players Megha Chakraborty and Tijan Gawar are set to lead the country’s team in the 12th IBCA World Junior and Women Chess Championship for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
This exciting tournament will take place over nine days, starting Saturday, and is being held in Asia for the first time.
Organized by the All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB), the event will feature top players from around the world, including competitors from the USA, Poland, Sweden, and Ukraine.
Charudatta Jhadhav, president of the AICFB, expressed pride in hosting the championship. He stated, “It is our honor to host this event, where we not only celebrate the exceptional talents of players with visual impairments but also strengthen the chess community around the world. We look forward to some sensational games and personal stories in the coming days.”
This tournament is a significant opportunity to showcase the skills and determination of visually impaired chess players on an international stage.
